Iraq Background
1980-1988: Iraq at war with Iran.
1990: Iraq enters Kuwait.
1991: Gulf war 1.0
1991-2003: Economic blockade.
- During this period the infrastructure in Iraq collapsed, there was no Internet service, Satellite System, or mobile communications as well as power shortages etc.
2003: Gulf war 2.0
- After March 2003, Iraq became an open country with increasing access to the rest of world.
2003-2007: Internal turmoil within the country.
- Many companies started to trade in Iraq; these companies gradually left the country because of the deteriorating security situation.
2008: Security situation improves to the point where life returns to a form of normality.
- As the security situation steadily improves, overseas companies are becoming very interested in re/establishing businesses interests to take advantage of the huge opportunities to rebuild Iraq.
2009: Current Situation:
- The Iraqi government and numerous government departments are determined to rebuild the Iraqi infrastructure and are currently spending huge amounts of money and paying a premium for extremely poor goods and services.
